If you didn’t catch it today, the TSA announced a new list of approved items passengers are allowed to take onboard aircraft in the US. For one, I’m thrilled. I go on frequent short trips — holiday weekends, midweek business trips, you know. Each time I have a very small carry-on bag loaded with just enough supplies for the few days away. Usually included is my toothpaste, deodorant, Burt’s Bees lip balm, etc., and ever since the London Foil, I’ve had to check my bag or leave the toiletries at home. Not anymore.
The best part about this revised list is what’s found on it. Don’t you dare take yoghurt or whipped cream on the plane, but grab the metal-tipped scissors with the 4″ cutting blade on your way out the door. Certainly no martial arts weapons like nunchakus, but yeah, pack any flat-head or Phillips-head screwdrivers (seven inches or less in length) for the out-of-town fix-it job. Oh, definitely no spear guns either. But your favorite corkscrew? No problem.
Give me a break. Someone over there at TSA has to be having a good chuckle while revising this list. If they’re not, I certainly am.
