I built this yesterday afternoon, and tonight’s veg scraps will be its first inhabiters. It was surprisingly easy to build, taking only about 4 hours. I didn’t want to use too much wood, so I opted for a more “airy” design using hardware cloth on all sides instead of wooden walls. I’m hopeful there’s not too much air exposed to the soon-to-be decomposing heap, as the mixture has to be just right. Give it a few turns with the pitchfork, a little water, and some rubbish — and we’ll have some awesome dirt in a few months.
